SAFE user guide
SAFE helps you organize your safety reflexes. It does not replace emergency services or professional advice.
Features depend on your installed version. Country/abroad preferences are in Settings > Security centre. Upcoming features require an app update.
1. Create your space
Create your account in the app with your email address and phone number. Follow the activation steps, then choose your language and useful permissions in Settings.
2. Add your trusted contacts
In Loved ones > Trusted, add your contact and create a QR invitation. They review and accept it with their own account; no active subscription is required for this role. Depending on the installed version, the QR can be shared remotely and selected from photos. Allow notifications and test together without an emergency.
3. Start a session
Choose Safe Date, Safe Business, Safe Sports or Safe Travel. Select your contacts and verify server-monitoring confirmation before relying on it. Safe Family is configured separately with members’ consent.
4. Share your location
Location depends on GPS, permissions and connectivity. In Safe Date, the date and GPS are hidden from contacts’ feed before an alert; an available location may be shown in an authorised active alert. Do not assume a displayed position is live.
5. Controls and SOS
Reminders may be local or sent by the server. Respond in the app; only server confirmation validates a response for server monitoring. An alert may be triggered after the configured deadline without a response. Opening a notification differs from taking charge of an alert. End the session and verify confirmation. Contact local emergency services in immediate danger.
6. Child, zones and recording
Safe Family offers consent-based sharing and, depending on version, places and safety boundaries for a paired child profile. Location sampling targets five seconds, without guaranteed background timing. Arrival or exit detection requires recent, accurate positions. Notifications may be delayed or missing. Emergency recordings remain local unless you share them.
Share, never spy
SAFE FAMILY must never be used to spy on anyone. Sharing requires each adult’s consent, stays visible and can be stopped at any time. A child’s legal guardian must authorize sharing and explain how it works.
Smartwatch
Pair your watch to your phone using Apple Watch or the manufacturer’s app. SAFE does not replace that pairing.
Open SAFE on both devices. Active sessions sync. Start heart rate on the watch for a sports activity.
Android: enable SAFE watch notifications. Synced heart rate readings use Health Connect; live Wear OS is not integrated yet.
A reply is confirmed only after server validation. Without a connection, contact your loved ones directly.
On iPhone, SAFE reads heart rate sent to Apple Health; on Android, readings sent to Health Connect. What matters is actual synchronization by the manufacturer’s app. This guarantees neither live readings nor notification replies from the watch.
HK9 Ultra 2 Max: heart rate access and SAFE reply buttons on the watch are unconfirmed. If its app does not share heart rate with Health or Health Connect, SAFE cannot retrieve it. No universal direct pairing is provided.
Readings may be delayed. SAFE does not diagnose conditions or trigger alerts based on heart rate alone.
Automatic SAFE messages
SMS are requested from the SAFE server, without using your SMS plan. Automatic WhatsApp uses SAFE’s Business account, not your personal account. No fallback to Messages.
Server activation required: SMS provider, WhatsApp Business, approved templates and verified recipient consent. Push notifications are automatic once triggered for linked contacts with their permission.
Internet is required. Sending and delivery are not guaranteed. Scheduled alerts with the app closed require a server scheduler; remote push cannot be tested in Expo Go.
